Did anyone see Midnight in Paris? I loved it. :D I think part of the reason I enjoyed it so much is because I want nothing more than to attend one of Gatsby's parties. :p I saw the trailer for that and it looks interesting! Good to know that someone recommends it. Oh, I recommend it highly, especially to people who know enough about the authors and artists of the period to catch most of the references. It was the funniest film I've seen in a long while. RE: Transformers- I will not hide the fact that I enjoy these movies. I like the characters, I like watching Shia LeBeouf grow as an actor, I like seeing explosions and car chases and everything else the movie had in it. Plotwise? They're meh, just as the other two were. But you get what you expect. These aren't budgeted, aimed at, or advertised as high-class movies. They're Michael Bay films. That means explosions, car chases, and pretty women being saved by the male protagonist. If you go in expecting anything else, you'll be sorely mistaken. I also really enjoyed the first two, for the same reasons (remember when Shia was on Even Stevens? And now he's all growed up! Crazypants), but haven't seen the third yet -- mainly because I'm having trouble conning any of my friends to go with me. But I will persevere! This sort of movie is notably less fun on DVD than in the theatres.

I was a fan of the first two films. I just thought that the explosions went a bit overboard. I couldn't focus on anything other than BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Also Michael could have bit the better man and not make Megan look like a total bitch. I watched it in 3D and it was actually quiet good, for once I didn't get a headache because of it. And nothing was flying at the screen. Indeed, which is why I liked the movie. I will never forget the remake of My Bloody Valentine, made for 3D, with the axe flying at the screen. For absolutely no reason. Also, the fourth Final Destination. Seriously? Ugh. In regards to Michael Bay, I don't think he made her seem like a total bitch, but that's my opinion. I remember a few comments on how she dumped Sam, but that's it. RE: Transformers- I will not hide the fact that I enjoy these movies. He does a screaming bit when his car gets damaged that reminds me of those days. I was laughing insanely in the middle of the theatre. If you lived closer, I would have totally gone and seen it with you. I will also admit that my love for this franchise also comes from the surname of Shia LeBeouf's character: Witwicky. Seeing/Listening to Optimus Prime (voiced by the same actor who did Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh) makes me giggle.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the Transformers movies. I know that they're not based on plot, but this most recent one really just built up all of this drama and whatever and I don't think any of it was resolved other than (SPOILER ALERT AHEAD) the death of Megatron and Sentinel Prime. This third movie could have had a lot more Optimus. He's supposed to be the hero and he's dangling from stupid cables for like fifteen minutes and missing all the action. He was, however, a freaking badass in the end. I'm also totally in love with him.
Meh, it's Hollywood. Shit happens and someone either does the offending or gets offended. I just think that keeping Mikaela/Megan would have done more justice to the Sam/Shia storyline.
Have any of you seen the trailer for the Immortals? SO MUCH THESEUS.

I feel like the last battle between the Transformers was very...lackluster. It just didn't stimulate me at all, in any sense.
As for Immortals...yes, I have seen it. I will reserve judgement until I: a) have brushed up on all mythology involved in said movie, b) seen it, and c) ripped it apart for mythological innaccuracy.

When you go to Chicago, let me know and I will come see you. I will also drag you around our university's campus and, if the Bad Wolf people are running about, show you the chalkings. And yes, he was Eeyore. The Boyfriend told me of this. Totally made the movie upteen times more entertaining.

It definitely wasn't as cool as it could have been. In the trailer only one part looks mythologically accurate--but then again, I've only read a few of Theseus's adventures. We'll see how it goes. My hope is that films like those will spark curiosity in its viewers to learn more about mythology.

I will cry if it disappoints me as much as Clash of the Titans did. I can't even think about the movie without getting angry. But the trailer looks so awesome. *has hope*

My fingers are crossed though. I will try to not hope very much.

Thor and Troy are the two movies that really just could not do anything for me, so I expect next to nothing from Immortals. ARG. Thor, I started swearing less than three minutes in and Troy...I made it through ten minutes before screaming "TURN IT OFF."

I haven't seen Thor yet because I know I'm not going to like what they did with it. Troy...no. I'm not even going to start on that one. Even Orlando Bloom couldn't save it. I'm sure it will be better than the adaptation of Antigone I watched in high school where two hippie actors danced around for an hour and acted unnecessarily incestuously. To say that that movie was inaccurate as hell is an understatement.

I liked Thor, but that's probably because I know next to nothing about Norse mythology. However, even I noticed the awkwardness that was the romance. They did it way too fast and just because. Don't force it damn it! Troy, eh, it was whatever, I wish they added the Gods. It would have made it much cooler.

A .gif could be made of my reaction, but it would have to lack subtitles and my mouth would have to have a censor bar.
