It's like a fanfiction site but the fanfiction is written by Rowling. Or. something. I don't know if there's any way to really explain it; I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Y'know, ok, it'll be nice for there to be some kind of website, and to find out some more information about the characters, but for me (as someone who is, I guess, a 'casual fan'), it seems a bit like milking it, trying to get more and more and more attention and stuff. Maybe I'm just super-cynical today.

I'm Ashlee.
My favorite characters are Sirius and Remus (cannon, I tell you.)
I hate Ron.
I also hate the epilogue. I like to pretend it never happened. Partly because of the pairs, partly because of the kids names, and partly because Neville and Luna weren't together. Luna and Harry would have been nice, too.
I don't care about Dobby. He was more annoying than anything, really.
I don't have a favorite book, although I reread the fourth and fifth the most.
I read the sixth book in a day.

Maybe I'm just super-cynical today. This. But maybe that's because I'd call myself a casual fan as well. Harry Potter was the greatest thing ever when I was 11 years old, but now that the last movie will be out in less than a month I just look on it fondly as something I enjoy. I feel like a bad fan for not crying at the trailers and being more annoyed at the launch of Pottermore than anything else. Every other fan seems to be.

Not that we all aren't already aware of my Potter-cynicisms, but I was really looking forward to the day when I refreshed my tumblr dash and there wasn't anything HP-related on it. And now that day seems even farther off. Le sigh.

Everyone was just so enthusiastic about it, I wanted to throttle them. My "negativity" and critique was shot down. I'd love to see their reaction to your comment hahaha.

I have enough Potter-cynicism to bring down ENTIRE FAN FORUMS. That's me. I'm a Debby Downer. But I do it with a smile on my face!

I have to admit the reveal was sort of a let-down to me, too, but I'm trying to be optimistic that the actual experience will be better than the press release. It'll definitely be interesting to see all the back story about the characters, extra tidbits, etc.
I don't know; I think I'm just desperately trying to cling to pieces of my childhood. I don't want to be 25 in August. Make it go away.

I'm Meaghan and I've been a Potterhead forever. They're essentially the books that taught me to read. The first movie came out I was I was in first grade, and the ads and commercials began circulating when I was in kindergarten. I wanted to see the movie, but my dad had a rule that we couldn't see a movie based on a book until we had read said book. I was the kindergarten class of 2000-2001, so the first four books were out at the time. Though I was already reading learn-to-read books without problem, Harry Potter was the first actual novel I read. I refused help from my family and plowed through all four at age 6. This, however, did lead to many mental mispronunciations that I still struggle with (Hermy-one, Double-door, Wesley, Haggerd).
I'm a Gryffindor, though not just because that's the most celebrated House of the series. I like to think that my patronus would be some sort of big cat, like a lion or panther. My favorite character of the Golden Trio would have to be Hermione, though my favorite characters throughout the books are Remus and Dumbledore. And Snape. And Voldemort. And Sirius. And Minerva.
I completely intend to get a Harry Potter tattoo. My reasoning is that, even if I lose interest in the books in the future, I'll always be thankful for what the did for me. I was clinically depressed and attempted suicide multiple times while struggling with bulimia and a cutting addiction. On my worst days I would turn to Harry and Dumbledore for guidance and they never let me down.

RE: Pottermore -
I think that J.K. Rowling overestimated her own popularity at this point. There are many people who love and adore the Harry Potter series, but she hasn't come out with a new book in years. If she had first announced a new book and then the website, I feel that she would be getting a stronger response. As it stands, it just seems like she's trying to ride the wave with the last movie coming out and trying to snag, keep, and enthrall a few people so she doesn't fall into obscurity.
And yes, I'm a pretty violent fan at times.

And I am excited for the extra material, if only that. It is rather scary how the HP fans feed off of the tiniest information JKR will provide us. Aaaaand I now have a mental image of zombie-fans feasting on her brain or vampires sucking her blood. ...I just got a mental image of her as Voldemort in the first book, when he's a part of Quirrel's head, and sucking the blood from unicorns.

When they launched the site, we crashed it before it even opened (which should tell you how many people were waiting anxiously for it). Jo doesn't need to 'snag, keep and enthrall' new readers, because her fanbase is enormous already. I think that she is just as upset as we are about the last movie coming out. Had she announced another book, THAT would have been riding the wave. The series is over, which is sad, but it ended in a good place.

I'm Stephanie. Potterhead since I was eight, now I'm nineteen and still hopelessly in love. <3 I ship Draco/Hermione! And Draco/Ginny. And Neville/Luna omg. I don't know if I have a favourite book. I guess if I had to pick one it'd be Goblet of Fire. The Triwizard tournament was awesome! My favourite character is probably Ron. I adore him and I think he's absolutely hilarious. Least favourite character would probably have to be...Krum. Haha. I just found him so irritating. I'm also a huge fan of AVPM and AVPS. Loooooved them. I laughed so hard. Most significant moment of my Harry Potter fandom was probably visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I walked in and was pretty much speechless for a few minutes, minus a couple of gasps and whispers such as, "It's so perfect! The details! Ahhhh!" (Disregarding the fact, of course, that they put Ollivander's in a section called Hogsmeade. Ollivander's is NOT in Hogsmeade.)

OH MY GOD THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER.
Butterbeer FTW.
Anywho, how about that last movie? I saw it in IMAX at midnight. My initial reaction: NEVILLE FREAKING LONGBOTTOM AND PROFESSOR MINERVA MC FREAKIN' GONAGALL.
GAH. I could flail all day.

The best part was the epilogue. Apparently putting beards on them automatically makes men look 19 years older. I couldn't stop laughing, in an affectionate way of course.
I loved McGonagall too: "I've always wanted to use that spell!"
I'm glad they put in all the best moments from the books, even if they were a little rushed.
