To be completely honest, I didn't love the season finale this year. I felt like it was rushed and put together. I won't go into detail for those Gleeks who haven't seen it yet, but I wish it had been centered around the group as a whole and not individual on-again-off-again relationships. *grumbles* I finally got around to watching the finale just now. It was a nice tribute to New York, but I felt that there was little plot. It was rather anti-climatic, with nothing that the fans hadn't already guessed/predicted. I am not really feeling the original songs, either. They're just odd. The episode was fluffy and it almost seemed like it could have been an ending for the show as a whole.

^I entirely agree with your last point (and would love to read the Quinn rant!). Seconding the desire to read this rant.

Glee is the only television show I watch. I originally watched it for a sociology project and have been hooked ever since. I agree, the fandom is insane. I mean, for a show that embraces diversity and all that, the fandom is vicious and judgmental as fuck. If you don't ship their ships, they release the hounds on you. I try not to read too much into it because it's my brain vacation time.
I really hate what RIB did with the Quinn storyline this past season, though. The whole Lucy Caboosey thing had me raging for a few days.

GLEE NEWS: More writers are being added to the staff.
Thank God.

They're adding female writers, and one is a lesbian, which of course has some of the fandom (read: Brittanna shippers) in a pandemonium. There's a few notable ones but I can't remember their names. It should be really good though.

My $0.02: I think the show does pretty well at balancing quite serious themes like sexuality, bullying, social status etc. and a sense of humour. The music is somewhat variable - they have a tendency to leap on a whole lot of popular bandwagons, but then they can pull off episodes which provide a perfect emotional setup to rally great music. I thought the Fleetwood Mac episode was fantastic, both in bringing the music to a new audience and informing them of the context in which the Rumours album was written, and linking it to the characters and their plot arcs.

Well I'm glad because maybe now the show will show some consistent plot lines instead of just what seemed like a string of stand-alone episodes this past season. "Rumours" was a pretty good episode, though. My favorite from this past season was "Blame It On the Alcohol". It was all sorts of funny.

I really like the show.
After the wedding bit, though... it seems like they're writing the plot around the music instead of choosing music to match the plot.
I hate that.
