Something I'm sure many armadillos have heard when people hear that you are an English major. My question is, do you guys have any plans for post graduation? My plan right now is to go to graduate school and get a degree in Library Science (yes, incredibly nerdy i know). What about you guys  |

Grad school, teach. Probably at the community college level, as I hate kids/teens too much to teach elementary or high school, and want to TEACH instead of research and write books as you would do in a major university position.
Plus, most community colleges only require a Master's Degree. The thought of going through with a Ph.D makes me ill.

The plan is to graduate in another two years and go straight on to my PhD, hopefully with a GA position to pay for it... please oh please. Then, honestly, I want to return to my current university to teach, because I just love the area, and I know that if I get my PhD from my first choice and the current department head is still around, I'll have a job no problem.
Please oh please.

My plan is to either take a 'gap year' and save some money, or just go straight into an MA - preferably in Canada. I've thought about publishing or journalism and I've considered becoming a librarian. I've thought about law, but I don't actually think I'll do it; the same goes for teaching.

My current options: -Grad school -Law school -Fulbright (and I recommend you ALL to take a look at this: us.fulbrightonline.org/about.html ) -Traveling (if I can miraculously find the money) -Just get up and move somewhere. ANYWHERE. As for jobs, no idea. With an English degree, I could pretty much do anything, work anywhere. Want to go into publishing, but it's pretty competitive. I'll probably end up getting my masters somewhere Other Than Here. |

I use my degree to cry. I graduate last year, and since I have no relevant work experience for anything related to my major find a job is proving to be quite the chore.

I'm getting my master's from my undergrad university. Here we have a Master's In Teaching program that's completed in one year! Which is amazing and will save me a lot of money. So in five total years I'll have my Bachelor's & Master's, and then I plan to teach high school for a few years to pay back some loans that I'm getting now...and after that I'll probably either move to a community college or, if I'm feeling daring, go back to school for my Ph.D and then go work at my current University. :]

I'm going into college this year (English Literature-Creative Writing major), and I want to do grad school in Dublin, Ireland, at the same one my cousin went to and get my masters in English. Then I'm going to edit novels for a living and write novels on the side.
Plans change of course, but I hope mine don't.

Well, I just graduated, and the options I'm looking at for my future are: - baker's assistant
- freelance writer
- catering gig
- editorial assistant
- pastry school
- MFA in creative writing
Of course, most of these depend on whether the employer/school in question will hire/accept me, but either way these are the (highly divergent) paths ahead of me. And yeah, half of them have nothing to do with my BA. |

I'm starting community college in the fall to get my AA, then transferring to get my BA. The plan is to become an editor or a writer (preferably an editor). I'd prefer to work at a magazine but I'd also be willing to work for a book publisher, newspaper, web site...I'm open to anything. I'm reaching for the stars and considering aiming towards becoming editor-in-chief at a fashion magazine but I don't see that happening as I don't think even that could convince me to live in New York.

Grad school hasn't killed me yet, so if everything goes according to plan, I'll be applying to comp/rhet Ph.D. programs in about 1.5 years. The plan is to graduate in another two years and go straight on to my PhD, hopefully with a GA position to pay for it... please oh please. I go to CMU, which isn't a very prime location, but it feels like home (especially since I live about 40 minutes east in Midland... which is where I've lived for the past 10 years, so I know the middle of the mitten all too well!) I love my profs, but I do get jealous of you lucky people who get to live and go to school in the U.P. |
