A lot of bands and music do, but Van Morrison, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Marley especially. When my parents were still together it got played non stop so... yeah. And now my mom doesn't really like listening to it and we don't do these massive cooking things and blast music in the house...

OH GOODNESS THE SPICE GIRLS. And the Backstreet Boys, to a lesser extent. And random songs that were all over the radio at summer camp.

Music no one in America has ever heard about... except maybe Britney Spears.

And yes, that's Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation, otherwise known as Professor X. Adding that to the list of Reasons I Really Should Watch Star Trek (& Various Spin-Offs/Sequels). But associating him with his X-Men counterpart, and seeing him with that expression like that just... breaks. EVERYTHING.

BRITNEY SPEARS. I remember how excited I was when my mom bought me her first album. NSync was the only boy band I really liked. The Spice Girls, oh man. I also loved Christina. Not as much as Britney, but I still listened to her first CD on repeat along with the first two Britney albums. Oh man, I remember how sad I was when my mom wouldn't let me get the third Britney album. She said all of the songs were fine except "I'm a Slave 4U", and I was HEARTBROKEN. Of course, my older cousin was equally obsessed with Britney, so I would just listen to it at her house. ;D Those were the days. Mind you, those were the artists I had the albums of. I listened to just about every 90's song you could imagine on the radio. I LOVED Dave Matthews Band, but my mom never bought me any of their albums. Looking back at some of the lyrics, I can see why. Everything went right over my head back then.

...Am I the only one here who grew up on country music? Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, etc. -Raises hand- That was me, thanks to my Mother. I swear every one of the radios was stuck on the country music channel here. But as soon as I started school and was introduced to the beauty of 90s alternative via the bus radio I hit the ground running for that scene.

My mum, too. I didn't even really know that there was music outside of country until second grade when my entire class went mad over TLC and Green Day (girls and boys respectively). I ended up getting quite angry at non-country music because my entire class got into a huge argument/fight over which band was better during an indoor recess period. The recess aides caught them and we were banned from having recess for the rest of the week.
