Considering without them I couldn't get through school, very yay.

I too am thinking yay. I already took one out for last semester and my school is offering me one again next semester. But all that debt...

I don't really see how "yay" or "nay" are logical answers to taking out student loans... either you need to take one out or you don't.

After all is said and done, after I graduate I'll be on the hook for roughly 40k, the majority of which is in Federally-subsidized loans (they pay the interest while you're in school). This is much less than some of my friends at the same institution.
The ONE time being poor pays off...at least half of my aid for the past three years has been grants.

I don't really see how "yay" or "nay" are logical answers to taking out student loans... either you need to take one out or you don't. Yay or nay is the logical way to commence a debate. I want to see how people elaborate on their choice. And maybe find my path along the way.

Either you need to take out a student loan or you don't, in my opinion.

I don't want to. But without student loans I wouldn't be able to go to school, period, so.
I'll be 50K in debt with them as of next April.

I've decided to never leave school so I don't have to pay them off. My kids can do it for me. Good plan. I thought so. ^_^ (Also, my boyfriend has no plans on going to college -- trade school perhaps -- so I figure I should have enough degrees for two people, to compensate.)

....I think it's kind of ridiculous that they doubled his tuition. Like, you have a repeat customer here. Why screw him over?
But yeah, that's awesome. I sort of want to be a real-life Van Wilder, too. Except...I'll graduate several times.
