I'm a bad English major because I never learned how to count syllables. In my defense, I think it's because the English syllable system is different the Russian one and never in the point of my English learning experience did anyone teach it to me. That's why I can't write haikus or sonnets without a dictionary open.

I like the Oxford comma, but there are times when I don't use it. I think it depends on the sentence structure or what I'm trying to say.

I buy mostly new books, from Borders and Barnes and Noble when I have giftcards, or the leather bound BN classics, love those. I mostly get free stuff for my kindle. And buy used books if if I have to.
I also got a few books from paperbackswap.com They're really great.

I've always liked the name "Clarice" -- I think it has a nice ring to it, a nice feel on the tongue, plus there are so many valid nicknames! "Claire," "Clara," "Reese"... Plus, y'know, everyone will have fun saying hello to her. That makes me think of Silence of the Lambs. Quid pro quo, Clarice. lol

I don't dog-ear, because I have slight OCD when it comes to books and they must be perfect. But I adore old books that have been marked and dog-eared. I feel like I'm holding a piece of history. I top it off by smelling them too. Is that weird?

YES!!! I wanted to mention Pierce, but put it off! I love her! Although I've only read the Lioness and Protector of the Small quartets. I'm rereading them now!
I think the her novels are the best for re-reading!

I really like the name Constance from the Three Musketeers, but damn it to hell, it sound so stupid in English. I prefer the Russian and French pronunciations because it's just so beautiful.
I also like Annabel Lee, it's so pretty.

1984 scared the crap out of me. Some of the stuff he talked about in the end of the book hit close to home.
Hunger Games is also pretty good if you want the YA genre.

Not to be a downer or anything, but we just had a several small tornados in our area. Something I never thought would happen, because nothing ever happens here. Ever. Massachusetts? Me too. Its the only thing on the news. I live closer to Boston though, so no tornadoes actually hit my town. Just be thankful the storms are pretty minor compared to all the tornadoes in the midwest. Yeah, I live next door to Springfield, so my town is one of the ones that got hit as well. And thank you.

I took a Greek mythology course, and you're right, the professor was hilarious. He always started off class by telling us another crazy story about his little girl.
But I honestly liked my Classics 100 course better because we went into Greek history and mythology together. Although if you don't know much mythology, it would be tougher to enjoy such a course. But that teacher was kind of crazy, cool too. What is up with that?
