I managed to glide through my junior and senior english classes on discussion alone. I don't usually speak up in class if I can help it, but I also always seem to be the only one in any of my classes that has any idea of what's going on. I'd pause after a question was asked because I was waiting for /anybody/ else to answer and it's just the most awkward thing ever when people turn to look at me like they're asking 'well, aren't you going to answer?'. I did this all last semester. I'd bring my dinner (it was an evening sem) and munch through the first half of the class, which would be full of awkward pauses and hesitant answers, then spend the second half dominating the discussion. The best part was that I hadn't even done the reading most of the time -- I just listened to what the other people said about it, formulated my own conclusions based on that, and extrapolated.

I didn't even have to do that. I guess I was just the queen of bullshitting when it came to that class. I never read, and aced the tests just in discussion. Apparently I also had 'good test-taking skills'. -shrugs-

I don't really like physical books as anything but an aphrodisiac. (... C'mon an otherwise empty and forgotten wing of a university library... Shiver... yum...Anyway, moving on.)
I read virtually everything on the computer, or create audio books from text files. If an eBook does not exist for the material I am working with, I actually make e-versions of books before sitting down to spend time turning inked up sheets of dead tree. I can't remember the last physical book that I actually read cover to cover.

I'm a bad English major because I don't read nearly as much as I should.

I never dominate class discussions. I get jittery when I have to talk in public and everything thing I say just sounds like nonsense. When I have something to say, I talk with my professor after class. I am the exact same way. I admire the people who boldly contribute to the discussion, but I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack if I even raise my hand.

I'm the kind of asshole that dominates class discussion to the point that it makes people uncomfortable haha. There are only two or three other male English majors at my school right now, and whenever we're in a class together, we get a little too excited and really gang up on people.

There were... two male English majors in my graduating class? I don't think they ever had overlap, that I've seen, but I somehow doubt they'd get along. I think there's one in the class below us? Why aren't there as many guys in the department? I new thread, I say!

My largest fault as an English major is my habit to write how I think, that is, with lots of pauses...therefore my writing has lots of inappropriate commas.

I never finished a book for my literature class this past semester, yet still managed to dominate the discussion. Oh, and I found myself despising most ENGL majors this semester, due to their racist/classist/sexist comments.

Oh, and I found myself despising most ENGL majors this semester, due to their racist/classist/sexist comments. For me, it's mostly when they impose religious views on a text. Yes, I know that a lot of these authors were Christian, but if you get to read it from a modern standpoint, then I get to read it from a Pagan standpoint, dammit. Bite me. /eyetwitch

Bite me. /eyetwitch I certainly feel this way when talking about Narnia. So many pagan things but nooo Christian only. I guess I'm a bad English major because I have barely read any of the canon. I'm working on it now though!
