Sometimes I feel like I'm from there, anyway. One of my online friends and I would always pretend we were from different planets and have planet wars...and I was Neptune...yeah. I'm Silva, by the way, a screen name that I adore.
I love reading and writing, obviously, both poetry and fiction. My top five favorite novels are The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Master and Margarita, The Bell Jar, The Catcher in the Rye, and East of Eden. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, written roleplaying, running, drawing abstracts, and set design.
I just graduated from high school and am going to a small liberal arts college, where I plan to major in English Literature-Creative Writing. Then I want to go to grad school in Dublin, Ireland and get a masters in English. Hopefully I can get in the novel editing business as I write novels on my own.
I'm really short, I suck at interacting with people for a valid reason (working on that), and anything else you'd like to know, please ask.

Which small liberal arts college will you be attending? I ask because I just graduated from a tiny one, and I keep being told that it's a small world, after all.

Alas! Not my alma mater. But either way, small liberal arts schools kick ass -- it's always nice when your professors actually know your name and, you know, care.

I know, it only has 914 students. I can't wait to start hanging out with professors and fellow English majors.

Hi Silva! Trust me, I know how you feel about having a hard time interacting. I'm so painfully awkward in real life that I try to avoid talking to people. It has something to do with the slight stutter I have, too :/

I know, it only has 914 students. I can't wait to start hanging out with professors and fellow English majors. Already nearly twice the size of Wells! Seriously, we were so tiny. The upside was dinner parties with professors and bumping into them in the only pub in town... the downside is that they know where you were when you weren't working on that paper you've known about for two weeks.

Hi Silva! Trust me, I know how you feel about having a hard time interacting. I'm so painfully awkward in real life that I try to avoid talking to people. It has something to do with the slight stutter I have, too :/ Oh my yes I try to avoid talking to people as well. This is a bit personal but I guess I'll stick it out there anyway. I'm on the autism spectrum with Asperger's (legitimately diagnosed, not some random person self-diagnosing on the internet like some people do). The teachers at my old school were always pushing me. One even wanted me to go to prom just for the social interaction. I was like "AHHHHHHHH!" I didn't go, but I guess I've still learned a lot from them. I better get off my soapbox before I write a novel on myself. And about small schools, since I can't figure out how to quote two on one post yet, that sounds exciting- dinner parties with professors! I hope I get to do that, but unfortunately the college is right next to Atlanta so there is definitely more than one pub/bar/tavern.

Well since you shared I guess I should too. I have anxiety issues (also diagnosed). Social gatherings make me really nervous, even if I'm just talking to one person. The whole time they're trying to talk to me I'm just thinking of a way to end the conversation. I used to get nervous just talking to my friends because I was embarrassed of my stutter. I'm trying to get past it though, and i think it's getting better. I didn't go to prom either, but that was mostly because I just didn't like the kids at my high school.

I completely understand about getting nervous. I'm always worried I'm going to mess up or say something the wrong way and offend someone. Big social gatherings always make me want to lock myself in a room somewhere with my favorite things and never come out again.
I'm working on mine too. Considering my childhood, the things I used to say, middle school and two years of high school, I'm much better, but I still have a great way to go. All I can say is: thank goodness for teachers who take an interest in helping you.

I know! I feel bad because English majors are supposed to be all eloquent and whatnot. Thinking back to middle school, I can safely say I have improved thanks to some awesome teachers that I had along the way.

Yeah, apparently we are supposed to be. I cannot speak eloquently for crap. :/ I can only write it in fiction, it seems.
A toast to the teachers!
