Soooooo hi there. Name is Nora, age is 22. Just graduated from Wells College with a BA in English (creative writing concentration). Trying to find a place to hang the diploma -- oh, and a job. Trying to find one of those, too. I'm a big fan of grammar and spelling and the English language and storytelling and bookbinding and letterpress printing and all sorts of other stuff that's less related to this forum. Also, to keep myself in touch with the English-major-population of the internet, I made this handy-dandy blogthing, onlyaworkingtitle.tumblr.com, where I post things of interest to the general topic of writing and literature and books and whatnot. So um other stuff. I write. Mostly fiction, though I've done poetry (but my poetry professor describes my work as "poetry by a fiction writer," mainly because I'm happiest with characters rather than using personal experience). I'll probably post some of my work on here for critique. I'll get on that when I'm done with this, I guess. Some other stuff... I don't like smiley faces. Or Harry Potter. Or tea. But I do like chocolate in all its wondrous forms, and I make a mean mug of cocoa. I'm highly tangential. No conversation ever stays where it's supposed to go, and I'm kind of okay with that, as where it ends up is usually more interesting. So ask me a question, and we'll tangent our way someplace cool.

So ask me a question, and we'll tangent our way someplace cool. I see absolutely no problems with this. Also, characters are the best. I love creating them so much that it's become a hobby. Not really writing, but character creation, though forum-based roleplaying kind of fixes that.

Either the subject has gone off to something totally irrelevant, or I've got too distracted and can't remember what I was going to say. But how can you dislike tea? Tea is pretty much the only thing I ever drink!

Tea is pretty much the only thing I ever drink! I've tried, really I have! But it just tastes like hot flavored water to me, where I'd rather have cold, plain water. Besides, hot chocolate serves every purpose tea would -- I have theories about excessive amounts of chocolate and sleep curing any illness. I don't think they've yet tried it on cancer or AIDS. They need to get on that shit. Congratulations on graduating. :-) Thanks! Next step: LIFE. (The boardgame. Or the magazine. Anything but the real thing.)

That's why I add enough sugar to my tea that a diabetic would spasm and die. Else, it's no good. Yes, I'm a horrible Brit(adjacent). Sugar in my tea...the very idea!

But even then, it's just hot flavored sugar-water. Sweeter, sure, and more palatable, but not something I would choose to drink.

Eh, I like tea, but to each her own.

Nice to know I'm not alone in my dislike of tea! What's your alternative of choice? Soda, mainly Coke, though in the mornings I drink caffeinated coffee with a large dollop of milk and several pounds of sugar. This may be because I tend to stay up far too late at night... >.> Last night I was still awake at 4:30 a.m.

Congratulations to a fellow 2011 English graduate! I'm sure we'll find work somewhere...someday...hopefully...maybe...
I happen to love tea and Harry Potter, but to each their own. I DO love tangential conversations though. They seem the most natural in my opinion.

My approach is a combination of that of Dori from Finding Nemo ("Just keep applying, just keep applying, doodoodoodoo...") and that described in the song "Que Sera" ("Whatever will be will be"). One of the publishing houses has to get back to me eventually, right...?
