Anyone have any tattoos they'd like to share? I'm a huge lover of body art, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing any! Or just reading about them if you don't want to post a picture! I currently have four tattoos: one) equal sign on my left wrist to represent my passion for the fight for equality and equal rights among all citizens (most specifically gay rights, obvs, but everyone else too). two) the quote "Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid." on my right upper arm. This has a double meaning. For one, it represents bravery/courage, and the importance it plays in my life. and secondly it's a reminder/representation that I keep my emotions to myself for the most part and that sometimes that's good and sometimes I need to work on being more vulnerable to people and allow myself to open up. three & four) I have two sparrows on my ankles, facing outwards. The one on my left ankle is in mid-flight representing freedom, and the one on the right is standing to represent loyalty. Both of which are qualities I highlight in myself, as well as value in others. all together, every tattoo I have symbolizes a quality/trait that I value and place importance on both in myself & others - their permanence on my body is a reminder that I must not let myself become the person I once was, but to stay strong and embody the values i cherish. My next one will definitely be Harry Potter related C:

I want two tattoos.
On my left wrist, I want "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself." -Luke 10:27.
On my right wrist, I want a cross going down it. Black, and pretty simple. *shrug*
Either that, or, if the whole 'Jesus was nailed to the cross with nine-inch nails" thing turns out to be true, I want a nine-inch nail going from my palm to my forearm, and a red band the color of blood going all the way around my forearm to make it into a cross.
I'm quite ... faithful, I guess you could say. I hate the term religious, because it focuses too much on rules and too little on the actual purpose of Christianity.
Essentially, 'religion' reminds me of things like the enforcement of rules. Such as 'I think Christianity is right, and thus, everyone must think that ... Or I'll burn at you at the goddamn stake.'
Religion's a personal thing, blah blah blah, this is a tattoo thread, so I won't go on a rant. xD.

The tattoos I want are: 1. This will go on my left bicep (since I'm right-handed and since it's a passive symbol). It will also represent my spirituality. 2. This will go on my right bicep (since I'm right-handed and this is an active symbol). 3. I want black wings on my back or a single black feather to represent Castiel. 4. "non tiembo mala," the same words that appear on the Colt, will go across the back of my neck or between my shoulder blades, depending on if I get the wings or not. 5. I want to get "Carpe Diem" written across the backs of my hands in white ink or across my wrists to remind myself to always seize the moment. I'm a huge Supernatural fan, if you haven't guessed.

EEE! EEE! THIS IS MY THREAD. WHY DID I NOT START THIS THREAD.
I just got my fifth a few weeks ago. I'm ok with posting photos of all of them, but a couple would involve a little bit of... underboob? so if anyone is uncomfortable with that, I won't. Let me know!
I started when I was 16, with a scorpion and the symbol for Scorpio on my left hip bone. Cliche, I know, but I still don't regret it.
The next is a black and grey tree going up my right side, from my hip to my ribs, and pretty heavy. In the branches I have the lyrics "You were only waiting for this moment to be free," and there's a blackbird behind the tree.
Not long after I turned 19 I got a bass clef on my left shoulder blade, but at first glimpse it looks like a cresting wave, reminiscent of The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
My last two have been in the past couple months. Two amazing, amazing people and friends died at the end of January. One of them had a giant owl across her entire chest, so I got a smaller one lower down on mine, that looks like it's taking off from the tree. Reminds me of how free she was.
The last one is of the guy... and no, not a portrait, those kind of creep me out. He was a diver in high school, and the girl that took died took a photo of him mid-dive: jeans, corduroy jacket, hat, and all. He looks so damn relaxed, even though he's staring straight at the pool of water that he's hurtling towards. He was like that with everything in life, and even acknowledged that he was probably going to do something stupid and die young. I still wish he hadn't been right.
So, that's all for now, although there are plans for three more. A Shakespeare quote, a Heinlein quote, and a Nietzsche quote. I just need the money >.<

So many wonderful ideas!
I love the ones you have, Olive, and I'm definitely not opposed to seeing them! They sound beautiful! (and expensive..hah)
I don't know much about Supernatural, Dodger, but I do like the carpe diem idea. I kinda want that too... hmm
$$$ is always the issue...

Money is ALWAYS the issue. And yes, they were expensive. Well, the tree especially. Unless any objections crop up, I'll post them tomorrow when I get to work. The internet is a bit too slow at home to handle photo upload

I don't know much about Supernatural, Dodger, but I do like the carpe diem idea. I kinda want that too... hmm You may want to fix that. And the first one is basically the "anti-possession" symbol that the boys get in order to fend off demons from possessing them. The second one is the angel banishing sigil (because they're all great big dicks! ...canonical line there) just in case, the third is to represent my favourite character and new god Castiel, and the fourth is what is written on the Colt, which is the gun that can kill everything (but for seven things). It translates to "I fear no evil" and it has a bit of significance to me, despite being associated with Christianity.

I love body mods even though I don't have any myself. Money is an issue as well as finding a place to get things done properly (not that dark place in the back of the mall).
Anyway, I have a ton of ideas for tattoos that are just floating around in my head for two full sleeves a chest piece, and a few on my thighs. I also kind of want "bookworm" on my knuckles, but I don't know if that would fly since I plan on being a librarian... I do have one firm tattoo idea that I know I want. I want the lyrics "If you believed what you felt/ you would be in love" tattooed on my feet. Just to remind myself to give people a chance and not to be so cynical all the time. Just trust my gut.
Sigh, one day I will find a reputable tattoo shop and I will be able to afford them.

Currently, I have none, but I do plan on getting some.
The first one is a kind of family tradition that's on it's second generation. I have one sibling, who's my brother, so please don't think this is a "through the men" kind of tradition! Basically, my dad has this tattoo on his right bicep that is a lion with a rose petal mane (with a thorny stem going down in a spiral), and my brother has a portrait of a tiger on his right bicep. In other words, I'm planning on getting a feline (or feline motif) tattoo on my right bicep after I finally grow up and have my own place. I hope this tradition gets passed to my nieces, nephews, and children.
I'd also love another tattoo somewhere, but I'm unsure just what, though. I dislike the thought of having a quote or some such (just not for me), but I think a symbol of some sort would be good. Or maybe Yggdrasil down my leg? or my back? It's a possibility.
Actually, now that I've brainstormed that Yggdrasil idea...

I also kind of want "bookworm" on my knuckles, but I don't know if that would fly since I plan on being a librarian... Yeah... damn this whole "body mods frowned on by legitimate employment." I really want to get the Heinlein quote down the inside of my right forearm (it's about writing, so that feels appropriate), but I realize that would probably jeopardize tenure track... so, I'll stick to keeping them all under my t-shirt, for now. Speaking of, I bring photos! The first, which I had to take another picture of with my crappy cell phone camera, because I hadn't gotten a picture since it was touched up. My second, my favorite. Took just over 4 hours, one sitting. Third. Ignore the redness, this was the photo the artist took immediately after finishing. The first memorial tattoo, done in the back of a motorcycle shop (it was a legitimate parlor, believe it or not). And free, thanks to my fantastic best friend. Also, no hepatitis, yay! My most recent, and the first one from my new local shop. The artists are kind of... pretentious, but they do fantastic work. So yeah, there we go. Sorry about the giant post!

I love that owl. I was thinking of getting Scorpios written in Ancient Greek someone around my ribs. (Hooray for being jealous and nuts, right?) At the moment, I only have ink on my left shoulder. It's of the "dead" anthropomorphic shaman cave painting at Lascaux. I didn't get his staff or the disemboweled bison, but I've been contemplating the rhinoceros that is next to him. Oh, and yes, he does have an erection.

Adding waves to the comma is a nice touch -- adding flair to the stereotypical English major's tattoo.

I'm going to betray my English major roots and say that that's just as fantastic. Musical punctuation is punctuation, too! (Or something like that.)

Olive, that owl tat is awesome.
As for me, I personally don't have any tats yet because I change too much to be able to commit to something so permanent. But I do have nipple piercings (TMI?) and I really miss my eyebrow piercing (it rejected). As soon as I feel more secure job-wise, I plan to get more facial piercings.
