I really enjoy Orson Scott Card's Ender and Shadow series, and I love anything by Sara Douglass

What? Nobody has mentioned Sarah Dessen yet? Sacrilege! Her storylines are all redundant, but I like the characters. She is good for a mindless escape. I originally told myself that I wouldn't get hooked into her books but that backfired when a friend lent me her copies last summer.

But yes, Sarah Dessen is a good writer (if not a good storyteller). She recycles plots, but her characters are always so fascinating that I'm perfectly fine with it.

I personally feel that guilty pleasure books are integral to sanity. To that end: I frequently reread books that I loved when I was younger. Like the Animorphs series, the Mindwarp series, Diana Wynne Jones's books, Tamora Pierce's books. I also love trashy sci-fi. I completely forgot about my Animorphs obsession until I read this comment. I could not put those books down! And then the TV series erupted and I decided that it was time to pursue a different theme...vampire bunnies. I wish I could remember the title for the life of me, but was it a hoot to read when I was younger.

Vampire bunnies? I read a couple of books when I was younger about a rabbit named Bunnicula, a cat named Chester, and a dog named Harold. The cat was convinced that the rabbit was a vampire bunny.
...And yes, I am highly ashamed that I read books like that, ever.

I had Bunnicula when I was a kid. I remember loving it.
I might dig it out again...

Bunnicula! I actually recall that being a library book, or I'd join you in a reread...

The shame I feel having confessed to reading that stuff when I was a kid...

What is the point of being ashamed of reading chidrens's lit when you were an actual child?

What is the point of being ashamed of reading chidrens's lit when you were an actual child? Why do I never think of things like this?

I still read kids books now, and I'm very much not a kid.
It's relaxing, and sometimes you pick up on things that you don't when you're a kid.

Actually, I recently read Percy Jackson and the Olympians and I enjoyed them.

My guilty pleasures are Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and the Clique Series. They don't have any literary importance, and I can't say I haven't read certain parts and cringed at the writing (more specifically in the Clique books), but I have learned little life lessons in each one. Usually it's not even the intent of the book, but it just gets me thinking about life. I over-analyze things.
