Since we have a Favourite Book(s) thread, I thought this was in order. My personal favourites are (in no particular order): - Twelfth Night
- Macbeth
- Hamlet
- A Man for All Seasons
- Pygmalion
- Death of a Salesman

Macbeth and Midsummer Night's Dream out of Shakespeare. I haven't read enough plays outside of his works to choose a favourite separate from them, but I did enjoy Educating Rita.

I'm generally not a huge lover of written drama (and haven't seen nearly enough of it performed to judge), but The Importance of Being Ernest always tickles my funny bone. I saw a musical based on the story Ernest in Love the other year, and it was ridiculously hilarious.

Oh my, I love plays. I have to agree with the above! - Macbeth
- Hamlet
- Othello
- The Importance of Being Earnest
- a Streetcar Named Desire
- Death of a Salesman (Which I actually acted out in high school for AP English. I was Biff!)
- Oedipus Rex
Plays give the work a more vivid feel, I think, sometimes. I'm not sure how to phrase it, exactly, but I feel more involved in the action when I read a play. I can see it working on stage in my mind.

I can't really give individual plays, but I love Beckett, Brecht, and Tennessee Williams.

- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead - The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus - Hamlet - The Importance of Being Ernest
I don't think that's in any order.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Maybe because I love the movies with Elizabeth Taylor so much and had them playing in my mind when I read both plays, but then I wrote a little paper comparing them both and there are so many fascinating details in them that made me love them even more.

I loved Death of a Salesman. I also really liked the Oresteia. Fences always stuck with me.

Man...how could I have forgotten Othello. Othello's death and Iago's arrest was the moment when this happened to me:

I'm a big fan of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. My favorite (non-Shakespeare play) would either be The Importance of Being Earnest, Waiting for Godot, or Equus.
