... I am a shameless Criminal Minds fan. Anyone else out there?

I'm really new to the show, but I like it well enough. My mother's followed it from the beginning and I used to make fun of her for disappearing into her room to watch it every night. But after going abroad to England and almost immediately back to my home university, I got a bit homesick and found it reminded me so much of her that it made me feel better. I made the mistake of telling her that and she got me the DVDs for graduation. And of course we watch it together now. Oh, mom. <3

Hey, almost the same story! I was a CSI: NY fan, so every time my mom watched CM I'd be all frustrated and annoyed.
Then I saw an episode. I am now fixated on it.
Who are your favorite characters so far? Mine are Reid and Prentiss.

If I HAD to pick a favorite I'd say Reid. I adore Hotch in that weird way where he scares me (it's the stare, I am apparently not alpha material) and makes me uneasy. But really I enjoy all of the characters. For the most part, anyway. I was a bit sad when I got interested in the show and couldn't find anyone else that was. Except for a couple people I've seen around the interwebs places that....that just take it too far... =/

Hotch can be a bit scary, yes. I just find Reid adorably awkward.
Alas, there are rabid fans in every fandom.

My RA/Criminal Minds buddy at university insisted I reminded her of him. It started on a trip to the nearest city for some shopping when I pulled out a book at a Subway and she watched me read. I uh...I can read pretty fast.
And then of course she was watching the episode where Reid gets anthrax and just as he drops the vial I walked into her room and knocked a coffee cup off the floor into pieces. =D

That is pretty funny and coincidental.
My anecdote:
My mother told me I sounded like Spencer Reid when she said, "It smells like rain," and I said, "It's actually not rain you're smelling. It's the increased barometric air pressure that intensifies all the smells around you."
Or the time in Environmental Science where the teacher asked how long a day was and I said 23 hours 56 minutes. I read that in multiple sources, but now I'm on Google and it's saying 24 hours. Curse my luck.

Haha, I love moments like that. Don't people just stare at you though? So worth it, regardless.
To keep things semi-on track, have you read the novels? There are three of them that came out in '07-'08, written by Max Allan Collins. I picked them up used on Amazon, haven't read them yet though.

Yeah, everyone was a bit surprised, I have to admit.
...Are you kidding me? THEY HAVE BOOKS?! HOW did I not KNOW this?! I am resisting the urge to squeal.
Only for '07 and '08 though... the author has missed three years! Maybe there are more.

Haha, yeah I was pretty happy when I saw the books. It was a total accident too and I just couldn't resist. Collins also writes CSI novels, which he's written quite a few more than he has CM novels. You should let me know if you get your hands on them- maybe we can read them at the same time and have a nerdfest. xD

Total win! I've heard decent reviews about them on goodreads, and he has a CBS tag on the cover and did research. So it sounds promising...
Graduation? High school or College, if I may be so bold?
