I felt like there was something missing in the film. It started off strongly and then tapered off...I was a little disappointed. The strong moments in the book were tamed for the film IMO. Whatever. It was aight.
Did you like it at all, Dodger?

It was aight. I have to agree. There were a few things where narration was important in the book, but we didn't hear it movie, so I feel like a lot of the scenes lost their effect... or technically, you're supposed to get clues by watching closely. SPOILERS I was especially disappointed by the end; they didn't include the part that Peeta finds out that Katniss was faking it, which is a really big part for the next book. END SPOILER It was a good movie, if you read the book and didn't expect too much from the film. But as the true fan of the book, there was a lack of urgency, hopelessness and terror that was present in the novel.

Full agreement. On the plus-side, my mom went to see it without reading the book, and said it held together as a very good movie without the foreknowledge of what's happening and why. Which is more than many other film adaptations can say.

I imagine that shot at the end where Katniss is looking at whatshisface (Gayle?) and Peeta looks over at her and sees who she is staring at was supposed to allude to that. As for me enjoying it...not much. It was pretty funny without intending to be, then again, I troll movies, and sticking me and my friend Joe together in the same theatre is usually a bad idea if you want to actually enjoy the movie.

I thought it was OKAY, I didn't like overly love it or anything but as a film it was good, notwithstanding the changes. There were two things I was very impressed by though: I thought they handled the gore/kids-killing-kids aspect of it VERY well for it being a PG-13 film; and I really liked how you were constantly being brought back to the gamemakers planning what was going to happen in the arena. Like "drop this tree there" or "let the dogs out" kind of thing, as well as Caesar Flickerman's interludes telling about the tracker jackers and stuff. That was something that was obviously lacking in the novel because of the first person narration, but I think it brought the film to another dimension because it really drove home that this whole thing is people basically torturing and killing other people.
