So: weird side effects of being a writer. We all get the talking-to-yourself, scribbling-on-scrap-paper, babbling-incoherent-plot-points-at-anyone-who-will-listen side effects, but what really weird stuff have you done because of writing?
For myself, I just noticed that all of my saved locations on Google maps are either NYC restaurants (I confess to being a bit of a foodie) and places that are relevant to my novel. This may not sound so weird, but when you glance at the list and see a juxtaposition of "L'Arte Del Gelato" and "Chernobyl," you might be inclined to do a double take. I did.
So? Anyone want to top my contradictory map?

I sometimes physically choreograph fight scenes...or any scenes that require a bit of description regarding the physicality of the action. In public places.
Also, fantasy author. So you'll see me taking random words in class lectures and playing with them until they become fantasy places, names, etc.
Something that hasn't happened yet but that I would like to make happen: having a room lined with corkboard and chalkboard, all covered in the scribblings of a madwoman. A comfy chair and a desk will sit in the centre, with the chair being a spinny type. The desk will be large enough to accommodate handwritten notes, a computer, and food. This will be my writing room, and I will spend weeks at a time in there, emerging only to use the loo (food will be brought to me by my loving and understanding spouse/children/cats).

I was thinking about this earlier today. For me, it's when I get into my character too easily. Like, right now, my FMC Lila? It's like slipping on a jacket. Writing her voice is much easier than I was expecting. She just needs to DO SOMETHING now.

I have a notebook I use to jot down interesting phrases or lines I hear or think up throughout the day. There will be times I will literally drop everything I'm doing to write something down.
I can't think of anything else aside from the compulsive writing that I do that would be considered strange. I guess I do have special pens I write with and won't let any body use, but that isn't so strange, right?
