I just got into it so I'm gradually catching up. A few episodes into season 3.
What is it about BBC? I don't ever get this excited about American shows. Actually, I think it's because most American shows are reality TV or sitcoms, and anything with an actual story arc is a badly written soap opera. I didn't like TV until I discovered foreign shows because it turns out I do like shows with a good story arc.
Just cause I don't have anyone else to sqee to about this show and I need to vent my adoration (no need to actually read it):
<3 Colin Morgan. He's vegetarian like me and we have the same personality type (INFP) and he's actually really talented. I like him more than Merlin, actually. Character-wise, it's kinda a tie between Merlin and Arthur. Arthur's so awesome and chivalrous and has that whole manly "I love you but I have to hide it cause I'm a man so imma throw a bowl at you instead" thing going on that I find so amusing. But I also really love Merlin's lovely sense of irony and how he interacts with other characters, though when he's being dramatic he's kinda a plain character. But I really don't like Morgana, even from the beginning. And Gwen's a little too perfect, she's rather flat to me.
The relationship between Merlin and Arthur (and their acting), the moral grey areas we often encounter, and the fact that characters have both good and evil in them (especially the dragon), keep the show from being mediocre. The rest of it seems rather average - but it's strangely addictive and the moral dilemmas are refreshing in a show like this. /vent.

Sorry, I forgot. I did a search for it to make sure I didn't repeat a topic, but none of posts came up for some reason. Just did it again and nothing. Maybe my browser is glitching or something.

Same thing happened to me when I was looking for the Sigma Tau Delta topic. Hrm...it's gotta be the proboards search capabilities. I'd suggest doing a quick scan of the board beforehand.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHH IT'S BAAAAAAAAACK
So exciting.
Have to say, the pacing on this episode really threw me off -- it felt completely rushed. But still, I completely appreciate the overall shift to serious plot. Hope they stick with that. But not liking the cliffhanger. Baaaah.

I think the major thing that has changed this season that I've noticed is the amount of extras in the castle and set design in general, there's more of... everything.
Otherwise the episode really bring up my expectations for the season. The only thing I can complain about is that Merlin faints and Arthur rolls his eyes. He's usually more concerned... like at the end of the episode and the preview.

Omigosh, you guys, this last episode (s4e03: "The Wicked Day")...
There was PLOT and it was PLOTFUL and this is worth commenting on because it is RIDICULOUSLY RARE for things to actually happen on this show.
Also, I've watched this whole show thinking "Bradley James, I adore you, but you aren't quite the King Arthur of legend," and then they put the crown on his head and I was like "HO SHITS IT'S KING ARTHUR" and it was entirely worthy of obnoxious caps.
Any other reactions?

Yeah, I'm very pleased with the progress they're making. Now if they only worked on Morgana a little, you know, make her a little more badass. Or is she just keeping quiet and hiding out? Cause I'd be trying to take over a kingdom to fight Arthur with.

Thank you.
I feel like sometimes when they focus on certain characters, they kind of forget about the others, and I bet the actors/actresses have to improvise.
Like all of sudden they made Gwaine the butt of all the jokes, whereas he was quite an intelligent character before. And from a relatable character, Morgana turned into a stock, mustache twirling villain. Honestly, Morgana used to be my favorite character, because she stood for something and all of her actions made sense. Now, she's just annoying.
