I just got back from like a month of vacation, and I want to know: have y'all planned to go/gone anywhere? Or are you doing "staycations"?
I went up to Dallas for a wedding (she's a high school English teacher; he's a rocket scientist. TOGETHER, THEY FIGHT CRIME.) and hung around there for a few days with friends. Then I went to New Orleans with family and met more family and also ate my way through the French Quarter. It was the most delicious vacation I've ever had.
...and now I'm dog-sitting for my sister and haven't left the house in like three days. There's a CSI marathon, okay? This is totally normal.

My boyfriend and I went to Montreal for a couple weeks in May to visit a friend of ours. We, too, ate our way through out vacation. I came back five pounds heavier, but it was so worth it! We're also planning on doing a few weekend trips to the island or the mountains, but that depends on work and stuff. Is it just me, or did August sneak up out of nowhere?
Otherwise, my family and I are going to the interior to visit my brother (so, it's like a staycation, only we have to drive 14 hours to get there). I'm not looking forward to the drive, but I haven't seen my brother in a couple years, so I'm looking forward to seeing him!
This year is kind of my "off" year for vacations; we're keeping it local and small. Next year, though, my boyfriend and I are heading to Australia for a month or so and my family is hopefully heading somewhere warm (especially if this summer is an indication of summers to come... we haven't had two straight days of sun yet!).

The last holiday I went on was to Paris. I went from Monday to Wednesday with my friend, got to stay in a Marriott hotel for £50, and we spent most of our time there eating Pot Noodles in bed. It was really, really fun, though!

My latest (and greatest) vacation was to Venice. So beautiful. Plus, there were book artists on every corner. Really wonderful.
But I'm spending my summer at home, trying to get a Real Job. Mrrr. I'd much rather spend it relaxing with a book by the canals...

...Ha...hahaha...HAHAHAHA!
I'm a college student. You think I can afford a vacation?
ETA: Now that I've gotten that out of the way.
No, no vacation for me this summer. :C Last vacation I took was in 2009 with a combination road trip with Le Boyfriend and a 5-week study abroad at Oxford. My parents have taken...four? vacations since then. Bastards....
Hoping I can get a vay-cay next summer, post-graduate stuff. Trying to save money for that and moving to Colorado is going to be difficult. :C Might need to start selling plasma. >>

My last vacation was my foreign language department's trip to Spain and Italy.
We went to Madrid, Toledo, Zaragosa, Barcelona, Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento/Amalfi Coast, and the Isle of Capri.
IT WAS FABULOUS, by the way. I have no words. Literally no words to describe the beauty. You just have to see it.
Thanksgiving break I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with my grandparents and it was probably the most epic amusement park EVER.

Prostitution. Nah, my parents still foot the bill for family vacations. When my boyfriend and I go away, we go places we have somewhere free to stay, so we don't have to pay for a hotel on top of everything. We stayed with our friend in Montreal and we'll be staying with our friend in Australia. His family has houses on the island and in the mountains, so we can stay there free too... just a lot of planning around where we can stay fo free

...Ha...hahaha...HAHAHAHA! I'm a college student. You think I can afford a vacation? We're in the same boat. I took a summer course during the month of June just to keep OUT of my parents house. Then it ended on the 12th of July, and I've been trapped in my parents house ever since. T_T My brother, on the other hand, is studying in Vienna. Bloody bastard. I STILL haven't figured out where he got the money, because I'm sure as hell my parents didn't pay a cent. However, at least there's sort of a camping trip starting tomorrow. perhaps that can serve as a small escape before my classes start. On the 10th of August.

I need places like that. At least they are interesting. *sigh* not like this stinking island that has me going insane.

HOW CAN ALL OF YOU AFFORD THESE VACATIONS?! My mom and I went to Venice (on her tab) for Christmas, largely because she'd recently split with her partner and spending the holiday at home with just the two of us seemed depressing. So we spent the holiday on a plane! And the next week in the most gorgeous city ever. Christmas in Venice > traditional Christmas, by far. Really, though, that was my first trip (that wasn't to visit family) since... 11th grade school trip to Brazil. So that's five years?
