My favorite was Marguerite Henry. I read a lot of horse books.

TAMORA PIERCE. Oh wait we already have a thread for her.
Hm... I remember liking a series called Everworld, though I don't recall who wrote it.

I was a big fan of Jon Scieszka (Time Warp Trio, Stinky Cheese Man, etc) as a kid. I can't really recall authors anymore, maybe because I was such an eclectic reader as a child, but I think I touched base with all the childhood classics- E.B. White, Mary Norton, J.K. Rowling, and Mary Pope Osborne.

I had a Christopher Pike binge when I was in 6th/7th grade. I can't really remember the books I enjoyed when I was younger because the memories are a little fuzzy. I think I also went through a Gary Paulsen phase when I was in 5th grade.

Tamora Pierce and whoever wrote The Boxcar Children. On my phone; can't recall the name. Also, Meg Cabot.

Hands down Roald Dahl. Read all of his books. I also really enjoyed Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series. When I was a lot younger, I think I went through a large phase of the Hardy Boys...
Richard Scrimger's The Nose from Jupiter series was also a staple, but I think it'll only be Canadians that remember those.

Chris D'Lacy. Those dragon books were really weird, but they somehow worked. I still kinda enjoy them.
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer!
JK Rowling.
Cornelia Funke.
Otherwise, I didn't read a lot of books by all the same authors...

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer! Yes! Just another of the books my mother cajoled me into reading that I ended up loving. I haven't read all of them, because I read all the ones that were out and then by the time the newest (at the time) came out, I'd sort of grown out of it? Got bored with it? Don't know, but yes, the ones I read were awesome!

I read it on the recommendation of good friend in middle school. It was the first time I discovered my love for bitter and cold-hearted characters who are soft at heart, haha. I keep meaning to read the newest one (Time Paradox or something?) out of nostalgia but I haven't gotten around to it.
[Sidenote: I ran into the kid years later and he had turned into one of those jock types completely different from the geeky sweet boy he was. He said he didn't read books anymore. It's kinda sad. Let's all stay book-lovers forever, kay?]

I loved anything by Beatrix Potter and Laura Ingalls Wilder.
