English majors frequently get little or no sleep per night! At least, all the English majors I know do. Does this trend match your own lifestyle, or not?
Also, this is the thread to spam when you're dreadfully bored at 4 a.m. because the internet isn't doing anything and your sleep schedule is wonky!

I hate sleeping.
It's an utter waste of time, I can't get anything done, and it's not fun.
But I change my mind when I first wake up in the morning because it's so comfy and warm and sometimes there's a half-naked boy in my bed.
...I mean. Uh.
I hate sleeping. So wasteful of good hours in my day.

I stayed up until 2 AM last night and I woke up at 7. I'm not even tired. I have built up my tolerance so much, I don't even need sleep anymore. Woo!

I am going on day two of not sleeping. Insomnia, an English major's best friend.

I love sleep and sleep loves me. I get my best ideas and motivation for essays in the state between wakefulness and dreams. I daydream like it's my job and if I had to chose between either eating or sleeping, I'd chose sleeping. (okay, maybe if the food was tacos...) I stay up rather late at night till 1 or 2 AM, during college it was sometimes later. But I also love sleeping in, but only until 11. Otherwise I feel like the whole day is wasted.

I never sleep. If I sleep more than five hours I get restless and feel more tired when I wake up later. Isn't reading for fun the equivalent of the rest sleep brings anyway?

Isn't reading for fun the equivalent of the rest sleep brings anyway? When I was in elementary school, I routinely stayed up all night reading. Whenever my mother found out and nagged me over it, this was my argument.

I love sleep, but it doesn't love me back.

Definitely not. I love sleeping! I'm definitely a morning person, rather than a night person. I'm often in bed by 10 (but would have no problem going to bed at 8) and "sleeping in" for me is sleeping until around 7:30 in the morning. The only downside is I have a hard time staying awake very late, which means I usually skip out on going out with my friends.
I should add that I have no problems staying awake all night when I have a good book to read! I'm definitely a "one more chapter... okay, just one more... maybe another..." kind of person.

I'm a late night person -- I have trouble going to bed before 3am -- and, if I don't have any hard responsibilities, I will sleep for 12+ hours per night. Yes, every night. So I frequently wake up in the afternoon. This summer, though, I have an internship at a bakery that requires that I wake up at 5am on Wednesdays and Fridays.
I got two hours of sleep last night and am now off to spend six hours on my feet, kneading dough.
AHAHAHAohgod why do I do this to myself...?

Although I'm not sure about the eating vs. sleeping thing; that'd take some serious thought. I think I'd just like to stay in bed and eat all day, all night, forever. I hate going to bed early; I hate it. Even when I have to get up at 5.30/6am for a really strenuous day at work, I resent having to go to bed at like, 10. This is partly because it takes me a while to fall asleep; once I'm asleep, I'm dead, but it can take a frustratingly long time to get there. But it's mostly because I like to stay up late.

Funny I should come across this post...As you can tell by my time stamp, I'm pulling an all nighter right now.
My work is kind of bad at giving me decent hours and it's only made worse by the holidays. So all my free time after school is going to be sucked into going into work, not actually have any time left for homework. So I'm pulling an all-nighter now so I can make sure I get most of my homework done (which involves two essays and reading almost the entirety of Frederick Douglass' Narrative)
