Is anyone else watching the Casey Anthony trial? The jury has been in deliberation for almost 2 hours now. What are your opinions on the case? I think Casey is 100% guilty. The evidence is somewhat circumstantial, but the prosecutor made a very good point in her rebuttal regarding who would benefit from Caylee's death. Not saying anything but showing the picture of a partying Casey with her "Bella Vita" tattoo spoke volumes.
Also, I was in shock watching the defense's closing arguments. In my opinion, he made her look even worse!

I live quite happily under a rock, so I don't keep up with the trial, but my godmother mentioned the other day that she's been reporting on it for CNN as their criminal defense expert. That's really all I know about it (though she did imply her opinion to be to the prosecution's side, and I'm inclined to trust her judgment), but if you see Rikki Klieman on TV, you can say you know someone who knows her...?
(Huzzah for comments that don't add a ton to discussion!)

HOLY CRAP, I WILL DEFINITELY BE SAYING THAT!!! [/spaz]
I am completely intrigued by the legal system and everything to do with it. If I didn't want to be a teacher, I would totally be a prosecutor. I literally stalk cases like this one like a hawk.
I still can't find a video of Linda Drane-Burdick's rebuttal. That was strong.

I actually didn't see any of the trial (terrible Floridian, I know) and can only base my opinion of what I've heard on the radio.
I've been ranting about this a fair bit on tumblr, mainly over the faulty logic in that bull story about her drowning and then hiding the body.
Why on Earth would you hide the body if your child drowned? If it was an honest accident, and that seemed implied, then I’m sure there would have been lighter consequences for that as opposed to the consequences for chloroforming your daughter to death, which is what the majority believes happened.
I can’t say I know what it’s like to lose a child but it doesn’t seem like it would be as emotionally and mentally straining as it would be to lose a child and then experience years of investigations, interrogations, and court cases with the whole world pointing their finger at you declaring “child murderer!”
Justice will be served for Caylee one day. I'm sure. At least Casey wasn't sent to the death penalty on the lack of direct evidence she killed her and the slim chance that maybe she could be innocent. I'm not saying she is, but she wasn't found guilty.

I feel like I may be the only one, but I agree with the verdict.
It's very sad that she was acquitted, but the prosecution didn't prove that Casey murdered Caylee beyond a reasonable doubt. There's evidence that proved Caylee passed away and evidence that proved Casey is a terrible mother, but the evidence did not provide a link between the two.
"Not guilty" doesn't always mean "innocent," as has been proven time and time again. It's an extremely unfortunate turn of events. It's pretty damn obvious that Casey did it, but the prosecution just couldn't make the evidence work in their favour. I believe with all my heart that Casey is guilty, but a verdict is reached with evidence and not emotion.
That being said, jail time or no, Casey will get what's hers in due time.

I have to say I agree with you, Rayyyhul. I think she's guilty; I think they presented evidence that there was some foul play; I don't think there was anything to link Casey to it. Anyone else could have committed the crime.
That being said, I think it safe to say that even if she gets off with time served and/or probation, the damage to her much prized social life is done. She'll be partying it up with only her guilty conscience to accompany her.

As I said on Tumblr, only black people are allowed to be convicted based solely on circumstantial evidence. Casey Anthony is way too pretty and white.
