I was a effing GINORMOUS Devils fan a few years back. We moved out of their television area a few years later and I can't watch (it's all Flyers in South Jersey. Ugh. Fucking Flyers...) so I kinda fell out of the loop. I'm gonna try and find like...streaming websites or whatever when the new season starts up.
I generally hate watching television on sports, with two exceptions: hockey and World Cup soccer.

Who was that one Canuck that was the whiny bitch? I was mostly enthralled by Thomas, but he ran into Thomas' stick and then put on a big fucking show, like, but I am such a delicate hockey player, guys, honest! Vancouver, sorry, but I lost all sympathy.
True story: my sister's dog barfed during halftime, and I have never cleaned so fast in my life, including that one time the dog barfed on me.

Anytime anyone in hockey does that, I'm like, are you shitting me? This is hockey, motherfucker!
And yes, hockey and baseball are the two sports that I can watch a whole game of and not get bored enough to reach for a book. Sometimes not baseball, though. (Every time the Superbowl comes around, I emerge to watch the halftime show. Just the halftime show. When I leave, my parents exchange this look like, we did our best. We tried.)

I can't stand the pauses in baseball and football. Stop, go, stop, go, stop, go. I remember watching one World Series and between all of the pitcher's pausing and the multiple fouls, the guy was up to bad for 15-mins.
Oh, and everytime there's a pause in those games? COMMERCIALS!

Eurgh, football is especially egregious. I was in the marching band in high school, and the fourth quarter was the worst. I'd get home and my parents would ask who won, and I'd just be like, "How should I know? Look it up, I'm going to take a damn shower."

So hockey season (the best season) started last month. Blackhawks are second in the league, only one point below the Penguins. We have a game tomorrow against the Coyotes and the Pens have a game against the Rangers. We'll see if the Hawks get back into number one, like we were earlier this season. How are y'all's teams doing? |

I... know nothing about hockey. I don't get why fighting is a good thing...? But also bad? It makes no sense.
Anyway, I'm just posting to say that I have one friend who's a crazy-big fan of the Penguins, another whose whole family is rabid over the Rangers, and then there's Dodger who's mad about the Blackhawks.
WHY DO ALL MY FRIENDS HATE EACH OTHER DURING THIS SEASON IT MAKES ME SO UNCOMFORTABLE.

I only hate the Red Wings and the Canucks.
As for fighting in hockey, it's good because it's another competition. So long as no one dies or gets gravely wounded, it's good. It's bad because then you get a 5-minute major penalty or possibly kicked from the game.
If you want to learn about hockey, I'd suggest watching a game. You can probably catch the Rangers game tonight; it's on at 8:30PM your time, I believe. Learning hockey was easy once I started watching the games. Trying to pick it up from people just talking about it didn't really work. Also, if you have questions, feel free to ask around, either here or one of your hockey-mad friends.
