OMIGOSH YES
I think my favorite episode was the one in season 3 where they saw the play based on themselves... Good times.
And I wish I could mention some redeeming factor to the movie, but there really wasn't one. Except the special effects were kind of decent? But they made Sokka serious, and that's just unforgivable.

I tried to get into Avatar.
I really did.
But for a month straight, every time I went to watch the show...that damned episode about the Waterbending Scroll was on.
I wanted to stab my television.
I almost did.
Needless to say...it kind of killed my interest in the show.
Still, I'm quite, quite excited for The Legend of Korra.

I started at the very beginning of the series, but I didn't make it past the first season. Still really dug it though. And The Last Airbender was the absolute worst movie I've ever seen.

I loved the cartoon, couldn't bring myself to watch the film. M. Night Shyamalan is just so awful these days. Legend of Korra sounds amazing, but it's not until 2012  I'd like it now please. |

Why did I not see this thread until now? Aside from Harry Potter, this is another show that defined my childhood. You have no idea how emotional I was during the finale. Dodger, if you never sat and watched the whole series I will have to make this happen. We will, however, skip that episode.
I am super exited for Legend of Korra!

onlyaworkingtitle, that episode in season 3 was my favorite as well. Who doesn't love a good meta episode every now and then?

This video isn't working! :( Here, though, I found one that does: My thoughts: FUCK YEAH NEW AVATAR!!!!! Also: It's looking like the firebenders are the bad guys again (since she is all the time fighting them in the clips). Why are the firebenders always the bad guys? |

From what I've heard the bad guys are "Equalists" which sounds like they want nonbenders to have power too. The concept art that they've shown at the panel shows that Korra learned firebending at an early age, so maybe it is her favorite element. They've also said that benders compete in a sort of show-off-y exhibition, of which most of the fighting scenes there are from. She'll travel with a firebender and earthbender. So I don't think that firebenders are the bad guys again. I think that the more modern setting is really interesting! A friend pointed out that it may be because metalbending has taken off in the 70 years since the first show. The creators did say that Toph went around the world teaching people how to bend metal, so it makes sense. I am just a little worried that the only female we've seen so far is Korra. She'll travel with two guys, and somehow I feel that is a little off. True, Toph didn't join the Gaang until later in the series, so maybe they won't add another female until later on. Also, instead of "Gaang" it seems that the consensus is to call Korra and her group the "Krew." AAAAH. Thank you for the info. It sounds SO GOOD. |

She is my favorite. As is, um, the whole rest of the cast. And Commander Beifong? ALL THE LOVE.

I DEMAND A BEIFONG LADY AVATAR. Who's with me? EEEh...I'm torn. On the one hand: YES! YES! YES! On the other hand: Korra isn't related to the original cast, so it would be kind've weird.... I'd support next Avatar being trained by Beifong, though. Earthbending AND METALBENDING, y/y? Before all other elements. Disagree with new Avatar? Metalwhipped. Yes. |
