Do you ever bring home books from foreign countries, even if you can't read them? Or order copies of your favorite books in foreign languages on amazon.com?
I have a copy of a book in Japanese, and even though I'll never be able to read it, it's so freaking cool to look at. I also own Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Spanish, and plan to buy the UK edition when I go to London next summer.

Yeah, being a foreigner I have about twenty or so books in Russian including the Bible, Mark Twain, Sherlock Holmes, Edgar Allan Poe, H.G. Wells stories and actual Russian books that aren't translations. I will be buying more Russian books as I find them. I read The Stranger in French, but I don't own a copy. Although I think I have Le Petit Prince in French as a print out.

I haven't gotten them in foreign countries/ordered them online, but I do have two German novels from classes this past year (dear god, if anyone tells you to read Soloalbum, don't!), as well as the entire His Dark Materials trilogy in German, which my ex-roomie gave to me for my birthday. She had to order it online, through a German website. I'm proud of her for succeeding, because she doesn't speak a single word of it.
I've also picked up Das Hobbitbuch and Siddhartha (in German) from my favorite used bookstore.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering why I didn't pick anything up while I was in Germany...

English is my native language, but I studied 8 years of French and about 4 of Japanese. Every so often I'll get a book in one of those languages (regular novels in French, still just picture books in Japanese). I do an okay job of translating, and I'm able to fill in the blanks with the help of dictionaries. It's a really good way to stay fresh.

I have so many German books from my classes. Most of them are phenomenally weird and I love them. I also have one random Stephen King book in German that I bought from a used book store.

I am strange. I'm reading Harry Potter in French so that I can learn the language better. XD

I own a Spanish copy of Fahrenheit 451 and the play La Casa de Bernarda Alba, which was required summer reading for Spanish last year. I also own a collection of Pablo Neruda's poems in their original format.
I, uh, I really like poetry in Spanish.

I don't know any language well enough to read a book in its translation (or native tongue), but I've been meaning to try. Thinking about getting a copy of Sorcerer's Stone in another language and working on it that way. Perhaps Spanish, but French seems like it might be more "appealing".

I owned Sorcerer's Stone in Latin but I gave it away to a friend's daughter because she wants to learn.
I've wanted a couple books in German but I probably have to go used-book shopping because the selections in stores are very limited. And I hate ordering off the internet.

After 6 years in France, my bookshelf is quite an interesting mix of English and French. I've also got a couple of little books in Italian, and some German grammar books.

I have a fair few books in Finnish, only because it's impossible to find many translated to English. I purposely have the Kalevala in Finnish, too. It rhymes and alliterates and it's just so beautiful.

There's a huge Finnish population where I live, and we've got some Finnish records/books at my job. Including a "English -Finnish-Finglish" book. I think I love it so much because it's so bloody different from every language around it.
