Actually, it is a sweater. The softest, ugliest sweater in the world. But it swirls.
Information dump! I'm 21 and live in Austin, TX, and my college is a secret because I am paranoid about The Internet. I have a huge love for crime procedurals, tea, dogs, action movies, and romance novels. I also knit! Scarves. Nothing else. Do not question, do not ponder. My sense of humor is often absurd and occasionally dry like the desert.
Talk to me! I speak of many things, most of which I know nothing about. Bullshit: the invisible double-major.
PS: watching The Glades, ripping off Criminal Minds and being awesome. I love this show! Am I the only one? *forever alone*

How did you learn how to knit? My boyfriend and I have a little bet pertaining to my abilities to knit him a sweater... and I am not about to lose. Ahem.
I've never heard of The Glades, but I love me some Criminal Minds!

I'll see your scarf knitting and raise you blanket crocheting. Only blankets. Forever.
And speaking of The Glades being Criminal Minds, I watched like a full five minutes of The Glades before realizing that it WASN'T Criminal Minds. Maybe I should stick to books xD

RE: The Glades, today is the serial killer episode! So they're throwing around words like "unsub" and "stressor" and making me clap with glee and confusing unsuspecting viewers tuning in for the actual Criminal Minds marathon. And I do love me some Criminal Minds, Silva, though I am so incredibly cranky at CBS for screwing AJ and Paget, I turn into Internet Rage Guy if I think about it too long. Will definitely be visiting the thread! And as for knitting, the internet is your friend! I learned how to actually make stitches by watching youtube videos (and also how to do awesome things to my hair), but if you're better with reading instructions and want a book, Stitch 'n Bitch ( www.amazon.com/Stitch-N-Bitch-Knitters-Handbook/dp/0761128182/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307936329&sr=8-1) is great, and they have a website that you can go to for free. Of course, I can't mention the online knitter's community without pointing out ravelry.com, where they have a ton of free patterns and advice.

I used to be an exclusive hat-knitter! And now I exclusively knit nothing. I keep a stash of yarn in my cabinet, though, just in case...

Hee! Yes, patterns? What are they? I enjoy predictability, and also that feeling you get from unrolling a long scarf. That's right! I knitted the shit out of that yarn!

Yay, another scarf-knitter! Welcome! (I learned to knit from Stitch 'n' Bitch, which I actually recommend. I also recommend domiKNITrix for intermediate/advanced knitters wishing to improve their techniques. However, through all this I have not figured out gauge. Screw gauge, with its fascist size-ist agenda.)

Yusss! Chiming in as another knitter. I love making hats and scarves. Do you have a couple favorite patterns? Oh gosh, I haven't been on Ravelry in a looong time. I actually haven't made something in a long time but I will wait to start back up again until this hot weather goes away.

I tend to favor double-ribbed scarves, for some reason, though everyone seems to like the single-ribbed better. Philistines.
Ravelry is dangerous! I get sucked into all the pretty patterns and then I stop and think, can I do this? And the answer is always "no". Although I have been thinking about maybe branching into purses? But a lot of them involve felting, and I don't know about that. It seems strange and exotic, and there are still scarves to make...
Should we maybe make a knitting thread? Where would we put it?

I made a scarf once... except, see, I wasn't happy with the "knit a shit-ton of short rows" approach. I did the "knit a couple dozen REALLY FUCKING LONG ROWS" instead. The scarf was beautiful, but it drove me more than a little crazy(-ier).

What! I prefer double over single! Single looks nicer in other projects, I feel, than scarves.
Maybe we could put the knitting thread in "Other." It's not really a fandom, is it? Though maybe we could sneak it in Quirks...
Onlyaworkingtitle -- I've not done one of those, but they seem tedious. I've made the mistake on one of my first scarves to make it extra wide and I feel that it could double as a blanket. It was a lot of work and I don't think that I would do it again!
