Oh goodness, I have a 7-page word document of writing prompts I collected for a writing class I taught a while ago... may as well post some of them here. I'll start with one, and post another... whenever I remember.

Spend some time with your junk – your souvenirs and trinkets, old gifts and holiday cards, broken toys and photographs. All the stuff that for one reason or another you haven’t thrown out or given away. Write a short piece – even just a paragraph – about each item or choose the ones that interest you most. You could focus on how you came to have it, the people involved in your having it, or simply how it makes you feel now.
