...a television network picked up a pitch for a reality show about writers?

I feel like this wouldn't be so exciting. Watching people sit in front of computers, sit in front of books, sit in front of coffee... And then, for the dramatic season finale, TWO WRITERS HAVE COFFEE TOGETHER and discuss how little money they're making and how they're worried that soon they won't be able to afford more books AND coffee and will have to choose between the two.
This dilemma will be the cliffhanger that forces the network to sign on for a second season.

It doesn't have to be limited to just writers. Editors, literary agents, cover designers, and everyone else involved in the world of writing and publishing could be included. Besides, all reality television is "spiced up" to draw in more viewers.
From the writer's perspective, all of the above that you've said is true, but don't writers also struggle with writer's block and the frustration that follows? Sudden flashes of inspiration hastily written down only to be dissatisfied with the result later? It wouldn't be great television, but it would work. If I people can enjoy watching other people frantically cut up fabric and make a frock out it, why shouldn't writing be given the same light?

Oh, a publishing show might be interesting, though I feel it would need to be scripted instead of reality-based. Then again, I think everything is better scripted than reality-based. I prefer cohesive plots and foreshadowing in my shows, so I don't watch a ton of reality television...

Maybe you're all right. I think I've been reading too much Romantic literature and have my head in the clouds with the show being focused on the writers and their writing process. Publishing would be fun to watch. I think I also prefer scripted television shows (But what would I know? The only television show I really watch is Glee) to reality television shows. Hm, maybe instead of a reality television show, it could be a publishing show like the many hospital-related television shows out there. Imagine a senior editor like Dr. House!

Well, recently there was a show about television script-writers: Episodes. It's scripted and a comedy but.. it's about writing.
I know there was a Project Runway sort of show with visual artists. I'm not sure if that went anywhere past auditions.

Episodes with Matt LeBlanc.
Yeah. It's...alright. The main characters are British? But no hot guys (unless you like Matt LeBlanc?). :c
As for this, I think a scripted show about writers would be pretty good. Or something like The Jane Austen Book Club, about a book group and the crazy shenanigans they get up to that JUST SO HAPPEN to match the book(s) they are reading at the time.

Interesting! That would be pretty great! And the focus could change from episode to episode--like a Poe episode one week, an Orwell one the next...

Unrelatedly, I'm still waiting on the Jane Austen Fight Club film. Anybody with me on this?

If a character is going to be a writer they end up being a script-writer. Yeah, I understand that it is an area that the writers of the show are very familiar with but...please just try something new? Like a haiku writer or something.

That would actually be a really hilarious online miniseries -- the first webisode would be five minutes long, the second seven, and the third five.

That would be so awesome. And the titles could be cryptic haikus! (Is haikus the correct plural form of haiku? Or is it haiki? Does anyone know?)

(Is haikus the correct plural form of haiku? Or is it haiki? Does anyone know?) If it were anything, it would be "haiku" -- Japanese doesn't differentiate for plurals (listeners rely on context).
