Banned books, mostly, and sometimes books that have had words removed and what not.

You yourself could not even type the infamous 'N-words', I don't see why you'd try to demean people who also can't bring themselves to write, read or pronounce the word and would rather replace it - exactly like you did - with something less offensive.

I hate it when people ban books, especially in places like libraries. Or when parents stop their child from reading a book - God forbid children start thinking for themselves...

Banning books and censorship piss me off. Let people say what they want to say. It would be like making this beautiful nude drawing and then having someone come with a giant sharpie and draw lines all over those breasts you shaded with such delicacy or make you redraw it with clothes. It's not your original vision anymore, it's what the public wants. I see writing as its own art, so as an art major and book lover, things like that really make me mad.

To say that censorship bothers me is an understatement. I find it personally offensive when people who don't know me try to decide what's appropriate for me to see/read/hear/etc. If a parent chooses to forbid certain material to their child then that's their business, although I don't agree with it in the case of books. I think that books are fantastic platforms to talk about difficult topics. If you refuse your child a book - or edit the content of books- in my opinion you're closing off an entire world to them /tangent
tl;dr- You can choose not to read whatever you want, but don't you dare try to choose for me.

In middle school, we were supposed to read Catcher in the Rye. A couple of parents threw a fit, and the school called some big parent conference. My friend's mom stood up and said, "Even if you ban this book, I'm going to let my son read it if he wants and explain to him what that language means. You're not depriving my son an education just because you don't want to talk to yours."
We ended up not reading the book, though.

Censorship baffles me. My parents pretty much let me do what I want (except swear, but that died pretty quickly). Dad tried to turn me into a lady, but that...that didn't really take. So when people say that their parents wouldn't "let them" read a book, it just...I'm flabbergasted.
Books are banned for a reason. Usually stupid ones. I hate censorship and refuse to do it unless I want to present a certain state of personality.

O SNAP I read those two sentences as meaning "stupid books are banned for a reason" and was going to get all Librarian on your ass. But IgetitIgetit. I hatehatehate it when parents come in with their preteen or teenage children and CHOOSE the books for them. "No, Sally, you can't read that book because of XYZ." Usually it is a stupid reason like "Mommy says so" or "Daddy doesn't like that book." LET THEM CHOOSE FOR THEMSELVES. They will learn what they like or don't like, you don't need to control their development like that.
