Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out a loophole. I've found one, but I think I'll let you keep the win.

Besides the reasons mentioned here I write because it helps organize my thoughts into a better format. I write because it allows me to express externally my internal thoughts. I write because it is a form of communication. I write because professors assign me eight-page papers.

You should make that your signature. Agreed! Maybe tomatoes are the new form of 42: they are the answer to the question of the universe. And the question is: What is literature?

My favorite Langston Hughes poem (whose title escapes me right now and it's making me feel awful) was an assignment he wrote for a class.

I'll actually contribute to the conversation by saying that writing is my form of escape from daily life. That's where I go to relax and do what I want and create a world where I'm the boss and everyone does what I say.

I love Theme for English B. It can be unwrapped in the same way some Frost poems can. I love how cocky Langston Hughes is. I'll actually contribute to the conversation by saying that writing is my form of escape from daily life. That's where I go to relax and do what I want and create a world where I'm the boss and everyone does what I say. This was a big part of why I started writing. It was definitely a form of escapism and a chance to build the world the way I thought would be more just.
