Red wine is definitely literature. It's essential to the study of English.

Art does not equal music does not equal literature. But literature equals tomatoes and wine.

Art does not equal music does not equal literature. But literature equals tomatoes and wine. Not really.

Music can be literature. The lyrics can be analyzed.

Music can be literature. The lyrics can be analyzed. The lyrics are literature. An instrumental piece does not have lyrics, and ergo, the lyrics cannot be analyzed.

Well, not instrumental music. That's why I write that the lyrics can be analyzed.

Well, not instrumental music. That's why I write that the lyrics can be analyzed. Right. But that would mean that the lyrics are the literature, not the music.

A conversation that you overhear between two people can be analyzed and criticized. Do you consider that to be literature?

I think if it uses language as its primary mode of communication, then it's literature.

Well, not instrumental music. That's why I write that the lyrics can be analyzed. Right. But that would mean that the lyrics are the literature, not the music. I see. So lyrics are literature, yes.

A conversation that you overhear between two people can be analyzed and criticized. Do you consider that to be literature? But it's not written down...unless you write it down? I don't know. Would you consider a transcript of a podcast to be literature? Or a transcript of anything? I feel like it's more documentation, not literature, but I have no standards for saying that except for what feels right in my head.
