I know we have the Bilingual Armadillos thread, but that's for languages you already know. I want to know what you WANT to know.
For me, I love language so I want to learn as many as I can cram into my wee brain. Next fall I'm taking Italian finally. *sobs with happiness* I also want to learn Gaelic, Greek (ancient and modern), Sanskrit, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Thai, and a bunch of others that I can't even remember right now. Basically, if it exists, I want to learn it.

Teeheehe, I already speak two languages fluently. But I would love to speak French more proficiently, learn Italian, Greek, Arabic, a little of Latin and maybe learn at least some basic of Mandarin or Cantonese. Spanish too, but it's not on high priorities list... maybe if Antonio Banderas was teaching, then I'd reconsider.

ALL OF THEM.
No, I'd love to know Mandarin and Latin, mostly. Then, Italian, Ancient Greek, Japanese and French. I'd love to learn Russian, too; I think that's the fault of my sister's ex-boyfriend, who was Russian and super-nice and we made him say stuff in Russian all the time and it was so. cool.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW LATIN IT'S TERRIBLE /still irritated that her professor gave her a C in Latin 201/202 because she hates her BUT I'M DONE WITH THAT NOW Anyway, in regards to Russian, I love the clipped vowels of it and all the names are lovely. I prefer Russian names and spellings (i.e. Nicolai, Mikhail, Piotr) and love pronouncing them, so I assume learning the language would be oodles of fun.

so I assume learning the language would be oodles of fun. Actually it's a total bitch, even when you're somewhat proficient. They make you memorize scores of tables of cases and grammar rules and then more tables for their exceptions (you can't come up with silly rhymes for all of them); everything in different in Russian grammar, including comma placements and capitalization. It made me want to scream when I was taking a refresher course.

I would love to learn: Latin, Italian, French, and Icelandic. I also would like to be fluent in Spanish. I took three years of Spanish I'm not even proficient.

Yeah, I got lucky because after we started whining she backed off with the grammar, and I kinda knew the endings because once you learn the rules when you're young, you kind of don't forget.
I image Latin would be harder cause no one speaks it nowadays.

I know some German and Italian from school. I'm currently learning Finnish and I'd love to read the Kalevala in Finnish one day! I would love to learn Latin and French too!

Learning Cantonese and Mandarin would also be beneficial, but we shall see.
