Hello Armadillos! I was wondering what your opinions are on mailed letters vs. email?
I think its a shame that letters are decreasing in popularity. I personally love writing people letters, and I get excited when I get letters or postcards in the mail. I wish I got more letters from my friends, not just my European relatives.

I LOVE mailing letters. There's nothing better than opening your mailbox and finding something that's NOT a bill. Sadly, the last letter I sent was to a friend I hadn't heard from in a while...and they responded in a few lines just on facebook. Most disappointing...

I LOVE letters. Unfortunately, I cannot write them. I agonise over writing simple thank you notes to family (when the subject is RIGHT THERE for me), so the thought of actually writing someone a whole letter that is interesting and not just a pile of nonsense fills me with dread. I just don't have enough to say! ><

I would love to be able to write letters. A few years ago I was really set on becoming a pen pal with my best friend that I only see a handful of times a year. However, I quickly learned that I suck at writing letters. I ramble way too much.

I love writing letters. Love it. Love receiving them, too. However, the letters I write are invariably several pages long, and most often written in several drafts, so by the time I reply to the original message a good deal of time has passed...

I've never really written a letter to anyone (except Santa Clause when I was a little kid, hah), but I've always wanted to. It seems a lot more special than just an email or something. Although I have written letters, not mailed them to people and just gave them in person, does that count?

I write letters because they're more personal. They're physical, so they manage to capture a memory and feel much more permanent than an email. When I have something to say, I generally say it in a letter, rather than in an email or vocally, because of that. It's a memento.
I almost never mail them, but I pass them out occasionally. *shrug*

I love letters, both receiving and writing them... I just wish the postage wasn't so damn expensive (okay, I guess it's affordable, but in comparison to emails? Everything is expensive!) and obviously they take more time. More time to write and more time to send... you can't just scribble down a note and send it, that would not make any sense.
There's really only one person I write to these days. My mom's former teacher and now friend who has taken an interest in me (lol that sounds so strange) and my studies & she doesn't actually have internet access (and loves to write letters & postcards), so every now and then we exchange letters.

I like hand written letters to myself, or significant other but emails for everything else. The reason is because letters take more time and effort to create and there's something intimate about inking the paper with a pen held by your own hand. They have become special in an age of electronic communication.
Emails are by far the more convenient option, and more practical as delivery is near instant.

I rarely email people. I either say it in an IM or a letter. I loved writing letters while I was at college.

I correspond by mail with a few friends, just for the fun of it. They're mostly people I don't have a whole lot to say to; I use the letters kind of like a diary. But I get to read their diary too, and we feel like we're being good friends, and we get to send and receive letters.
There's a trick I like to use because it makes me feel sneaky and badass and saves that 40c [or whatever] per letter. Put your address on the front, and 'If undelivered, return to:' with their address on the back. Don't stamp it.
