A lot of my classmates did as well, but I loved it. So digressive and expansive and meandering and poignant and fucking hilarious. There were point in time when I was reading it, perhaps when Hitler was being compared to Elvis, when I thought that I would like it. But then I think my class and discussion section made me loathe it. Maybe if I read it on my own I would have like it. Maybe. Like I said, I can definitely see why people wouldn't like it. Why did you dislike it?

I think it was mostly because I did not completely understand post-modernism, or what DeLillo was trying to do. His intent, if you will. I couldn't figure out if he was blowing everything out of proportion on purpose or if it was meant to be that way. I hated the characters, most of them, some I wanted to murder. The book made me confused and angry. I couldn't figure out. And the more I tried the more confused and angry I got. It was just a ridiculous book. You either like it or you don't.

I want to produce a television pilot based on White Noise. I would watch the pilot to see what would come out. But it brings Lost to mind.

I've ALWAYS loved S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. Aside from that, I'd say my top books would be:
~Peter Pan and Wendy ~Billy by Whitley Strieber ~Le Petit Prince ~The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner ~The NeverEnding Story
This does propose a question though; are your favorite books also the books that "made you a reader" when you were young/first got interested in reading? Maybe I'll start a thread on books that made you readers...

At the moment, we have 'Mists of Avalon', Diana Gabaldon's 'Outlander' series, and most of WEB Griffins work. At the moment. Speaking of 'Mists', whats with the Tumblr hoopla all of a sudden? Oh, and The Outsiders. Always liked that one.

Speaking of 'Mists', whats with the Tumblr hoopla all of a sudden? I love that you use the word "hoopla" -- I'm the only person I know who does, and have no clue where I picked it up. Also: not a clue. It's on my must-read short-list, though.

Oh, and The Outsiders. Always liked that one. I don't know. All I know is, FYEMA was getting flooded with asks about it... no explanations, just random shout outs and bursts of anger and the like. If anyone has any idea why/who/etc...
